Within the Department of Communication Studies, SRJC offers participation on its highly acclaimed speech and debate team. Through enrollment in Speech 52 A, B, C, and D, students receive instruction and practice for intercollegiate competitions in public speaking, debate, readers theatre,  oratory,  dramatic interpretation, informative and extemporaneous speaking.  The SRJC parliamentary debate team has ranked among the top six community colleges in  the nation for nine  consecutive years and has a national reputation for excellence.
